The Aviation Investigation Bureau of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (AIB) will become operational on 01 January 2016.The objective of the AIB is to advance aviation safety of civil aviation activities within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This objective is achieved by conducting independent investigations into aviation occurrences, by monitoring the implementation of safety recommendations and, by identifying and correcting systemic errors through a continuous/predictive data-based accident prevention program. The AIB is conducting recruitment, both locally and internationally to staff positions with qualified and highly motivated personnel.  All the positions are opened to both genders (men & women). Preference will be given to Saudi nationals.

1.Investigator Operations:


Location: Jeddah (location might move to another KSA city if required).

Role Purpose:

Conducts aircraft accident and incident investigations to identify findings as to causes and contributing factors, gathers and preserves evidence related to investigations, identify safety deficiencies, makes recommendations to eliminate or reduce deficiencies and prepares draft investigation reports.  Specialized in operations aspects of investigations.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Aviation Safety/Aeronautics or equivalent experience.
  • Holds or has held a Commercial Pilot License with the following ratings: aircraft or helicopter multi-engine and instrument.
  • Knowledge of investigation national and international regulations, Investigation processes,  aircraft operations, report writing, maintenance and systems.
  • 20 years of varied experience in aviation.
  • Desirable: Involvement in aviation accident/incident investigations.
     


2. External Affair & Communication Specialist: 



Location: Jeddah (location might move to another KSA city if required).
Role Purpose:
Planning and execution of external affairs & communications strategies, programs, and tactics. This role will focus on media relations responsibilities and the execution of AIB communication strategy including family assistance program.


Knowledge & Experience:      

  • B.S. degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Business, International Affairs, or related field plus at least 3 years of related external communications experience, OR M.S. degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Business, International Affairs, or related field.

  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities.



3. Air Trafic Services - Investigator




Location: Jeddah (location might move to another KSA city if required).

Role Purpose:

Conducts incident investigations involving the provision of Air Traffic Services (ATS) to identify findings as to causes and contributing factors, gathers and preserves evidence related to investigations, identify safety deficiencies, makes recommendations to eliminate or reduce deficiencies and prepares investigation reports. Specialized in ATS aspects of investigations.


Knowledge & Experience:     

  • Licenced as an Air Traffic Controller in the IFR (enroute or terminal) environment.

  • Minimum 20 years of experience as an Air Traffic Controller.

  • knowledge of investigation regulations, national and international.

  • Knowledge of investigation process and report writing.

  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems.

Desirable:

  • Practical experience in air traffic procedures design.
  • Experience in Safety Management Systems.
  • Experience in hazard identification and risk management.
  • Previous involvement in ATS incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of Human Factors in ATC.
  • Additional ATC experience: tower, data systems coordinator, procedure specialist, operational managements, etc.
  • Background in other aviation related fields.

Experience in presentations, public speaking and instructional techniques

4. Senior Technical Investigator

Conducts aircraft accident and incident investigations with a focus on human factors and how it relates to the causes of the occurrence.  Identify safety deficiencies, makes recommendations to eliminate or reduce deficiencies and prepares draft investigation reports.  Specialized in the human factors   aspects of investigations.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Psychology or equivalent experience.
  • Holds or has held a Commercial Pilot License with the following ratings: aircraft or helicopter multi-engine and instrument.
  • Knowledge of investigation regulations, national and international.

8. Power Plant Specialist

Role Purpose:

Provide technical expertise on Power plant investigations throughout the investigation process including and not limited to site evidence collection, samples inspection, documenting, preservation, and reporting. 


Knowledge& Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Aeronautics or related Engineering major, OR a technical Diploma /A&P License with 8 years of experience in Aircraft Systems and related aviation activities.
  • Knowledge of investigation process and report writing.
  • Knowledge of aircraft operation and maintenance and systems.

9. Metallurgy Engineer




Location: Jeddah (location might move to another KSA city if required).

Role Purpose:

Provide technical expertise on the analysis of Metal and material for Safety Investigations. The role includes and not limited to collecting evidence from site and sample preparation in the Laboratory. Perform detailed samples inspection, documenting, preservation, and reporting.  A designated accident/incident site safety officer.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A master degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering / Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with (5) year experience in Metal and Material analysis and related laboratory activities.
  • Knowledge of failure mode analysis.
  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities.

  • A 4-year degree in Aeronautics or related Engineering major, OR a technical Diploma /A&P License with 8 years of experience in Aircraft Systems and related aviation activities.

Provide technical expertise on Avionics investigations throughout the investigation process including and not limited to site evidence collection, samples inspection, documenting, preservation, and reporting.  Recovery of non-volatile memory from aircraft system components and personal electronic devices


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Aeronautics or related Engineering major. OR Technical Diploma /A&P License with 8 years of experience in Aircraft avionics and related aviation activities
  • Knowledge of investigation process and report writing.
  • Knowledge of aircraft operation and maintenance and systems.
  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities.
  • Work related experience preferred.

12. Safety Analyst





Location: Jeddah (location might move to another KSA city if required).

Role Purpose:

Drives desired Aviation Safety Culture expectations Maintain the Aviation Occurrence Database and continuously monitor the data to identify safety issues and trends.  Analyzes safety performance data for cause and effect to yield mitigation recommendations. Produces and disseminates statistical trending data. Works within guidelines as required by management; ensures accuracy in department level application; provides support to related departments and management as necessary.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Aviation Management/Industrial Engineering/Management Information System or related subject.
  • 5 years of experience in various aviation safety functions is preferred.
  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities.
  • General knowledge of the Aviation System.

Conducts aviation safety studies and maintains a database of all aviation accidents and incidents to recommend actions to improve safety standards, overcome safety deficiencies through implementation of safety programs to prevent accidents.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Aviation Safety/Aeronautics or equivalent Degree in an Aviation Safety discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in various aviation safety functions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities.
  • Knowledge of aircraft operational procedures and maintenance processes.

Role Purpose:

Provide technical expertise on Operations investigations throughout the investigation process including and not limited to flight data analysis, flight simulation, flight crew interview, documentation, and reporting


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4 year degree in Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering, OR FAA/CAA ratings Pilot and/or Flight Engineer with 10,000 flight hours.
  • Information Technology (IT) literate in file logarithm conversions
  • Knowledge of investigation process and report writing.
  • Knowledge of aircraft design and operation and systems.
  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities.
  • Work related experience preferred.

15. Operation and Control Specialist

Role Purpose:

Process occurrence notifications and activate the response process, coordinate investigation team deployment, initiate notifications to the Chairman and interested parties, gathering of initial occurrence information for internal and external communications, manage the logistical support of the investigation teams, provide head office support and coordination for onsite investigation teams.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year university degree in Aviation related field or 2 years Diploma in aviation related field with 5 years’ experience.
  • 5 years of experience in various aviation safety functions is preferred.
  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities is preferred.
  • General knowledge of aircraft operational procedures and maintenance processes is preferred.

16. Confidential Report Specialist



Location: Jeddah (location might move to another KSA city if required).

Role Purpose:

Reviews and analysis of safety data gathered from concerned aviation stakeholders thru Confidential Reports system. Administers the Confidential Reports database. Ensures the Confidential Reports are not anonymous or contain unverifiable information and protect the reporter’s identity.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Aviation Safety/Aeronautics or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in various aviation safety functions is preferred.
  • General knowledge of rules and regulations governing the aviation activities.

17. CVR/FDR Specialist



Location: Jeddah (location might move to another KSA city if required).

Role Purpose:

Supports in analysis of the factual information for aircraft accident and incident investigations to identify findings as to causes and contributing factors, by downloading and analyzing the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR), prepares plots, animations, audible CVR  files and participates in Crew interviews. Produces reports for all the FDR and CVR investigations conducted in the LAB. Maintains the Flight Recorders LAB (FRL) and recommends required upgrades to maintain standard of excellence in operating systems and equipment.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • A 4-year degree in Aeronautics or related Engineering major. OR Technical Diploma /A&P License with 8 years of experience in Aircraft avionics and related aviation activities
  • Knowledge of investigation regulations, national and international.
  • Knowledge of investigation process and report writing.
